Welcome to the Ulster Heritage mtDNA Project. The Ulster Heritage mtDNA Project. Is for mitochondrial DNA only and both male and females may participate. You inherit your mitochondrial DNA from your mother, and she from her mother, so this project focuses only on the maternal lines that are in Ulster and descend from Ulster folk in the Diaspora. Therefore, the special focus of this project is to connect our female ancestors through their mitochondrial DNA.
